Q: What do you enjoy most about financial planning?

A: One of the most rewarding aspects of financial planning is helping people think introspectively and identify hopes and dreams. Some people I meet haven’t recognized their true dreams or desires—they are striving to achieve things that may not truly fulfill them. Others have stifled their dreams because those dreams seemed out of reach. Once life-defining goals are identified, you’ve already begun the process of achieving them.

Q: Describe your ideal client.

A: My favorite clients are open-minded and excited about reflecting on their lives. They are committed to their hopes, dreams, and goals, and they have an appreciation of what the planning process can provide. They understand that I am working hard for them and helping them, even if the markets perform poorly.

Q: How is financial planning helpful to your clients?

A: I’ve seen people change their lives—I’ve seen people who thought they could never own their dream home purchase it. I’ve seen people come up with marvelous goals, goals that they didn’t know they had, in a matter of minutes. I strive to educate my clients, and through financial planning many people gain a deeper understanding of financial issues. Just about everyone I’ve known who has chosen comprehensive financial planning has improved their life in the course of one year.
